Element held its annual radio compliance seminar on 14 November 2018, at the Imperial War Museum (IWM) Duxford, Cambridge, UK. Over 100 delegates attended the training event which covered a range of insightful topics, discussing updates and changes to radio testing, key EMC and safety updates for radio products, and requirements for international product approval beyond the EU.
Chaired by Engaged Expert Simon Barrowcliff (Chair of the UK IEC Conformity Assessment Board and UK IECEE mirror committees and Chair of the UK ATEX Notified Body Group), the day started with presentations by leading industry experts Simon Hindle and Alex Toohie. They kicked off proceedings by addressing radio compliance for the EU, USA and Canada, covering the latest changes and sharing their extensive experience on compliance and certification procedures.
Both presenters highlighted the importance of a risk-based approach to certification and approvals of wireless devices, and how growing complications of multi-radio equipment impacts the route to compliance and time to market for businesses.
Engaged Expert Steve Hayes updated the audience on EMC compliance for radio equipment for the EU, USA and Canada, followed by Simon Barrowcliff who covered the same topic from a safety perspective. The afternoon saw global approvals expert, Richard White, give a presentation to the audience about global market access for radio equipment.
The seminar came to a close with a round table discussion, chaired by Alex Toohie, where delegates got the chance to ask experts questions on compliance related issues. Before leaving, delegates enjoyed an exclusive tour of the IWM’s impressive AirSpace display, and were able to get up close and personal with the Concorde, Vulcan, Hurricane Spitfire, and other historic aircraft.
Rick Sluiters, EVP Aerospace, commented: “This event continues to successfully bring industry experts together to create an unrivalled platform from which our thought leaders can share their industry knowledge and offer unique insights and debate around current issues ranging from compliance and Brexit ramifications, to the latest developments with the Radio Equipment Directive.”
