On-site or in-lab, our qualified experts minimize your exposure risk through testing and sample collection, providing reliable results for safeguarding health and legal compliance.

What is Asbestos Testing and Why Do you Need it?

Element provides a comprehensive range of asbestos testing services for organizations and building owners, incorporating initial survey Å·ÃÀÊìÅ®ÂÒÂ× to assess the presence and condition of asbestos on-site, alongside the choice between on-site testing or in-lab sampling when on-site testing isn't feasible or more in-depth composition analysis is required . We can identify and quantify all types of asbestos in all types of materials.

As one of the most hazardous materials used in building products, with high public scrutiny and significant legal responsibilities, it is essential to be certain whether you have asbestos on-site and respond accordingly. This testing and inspection is carried out to support you in achieving compliance with Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012 and, ultimately, preventing exposure to asbestos on your industrial, commercial, and domestic properties.

Helping you make informed decisions

Navigating asbestos-related situations can be overwhelming and subject to scrutiny. Our expert team understands this challenging landscape and is ready to equip you with the information and support to make informed decisions, prioritizing safety and regulatory compliance. Our experts utilize a combination of on-site and in-lab analyses, comprehensive surveys, and sampling. Depending on your level of knowledge about the asbestos at the site, we can initiate the process with a comprehensive survey or begin with testing and sampling, enabling you to confirm and identify asbestos within a site at the required level of detail. Element can help you identify potential asbestos containing materials and assess associated risks. From there, we can build a comprehensive picture, delving into the asbestos type, the extent of material degradation, the quantities present and recommendations for any further action that maybe required.

Reduce Risk to yourself and others

Due to its extremely hazardous nature, it is recommended that only trained individuals conduct asbestos tests or collect suspected asbestos samples.  Element’s highly qualified team of asbestos surveyors carry our fully extensive asbestos surveys and collect the samples require. We do also provide the added convenience of allowing our customers to self-submit suspected asbestos samples to our UKAS-accredited laboratories, offering a customized approach to suit your risk management strategy.   Engaging our team promptly not only reduces the health and environmental risks to yourself and others of on-site exposure but can also mitigate potential legality risks associated with any inaccuracies in the testing and sampling process.

Element’s qualified home and site-based asbestos experts offer a local and highly responsive service which can be tailored to suit your individual needs.

Asbestos Surveys

Establish the initial presence of asbestos on site and its condition with our  asbestos surveys. Conducted in accordance with , our surveys are accredited to ISO/IEC 17020.Element conducts three types of asbestos surveys, depending on your requirements.

  • Management survey: conducted to comply with duty to manage legislation for building owner/occupants.
  • Refurbishment and demolition survey: conducted to comply with legislation if the premises need upgrading, refurbishment, or demolition.
  • Reinspection Surveys: Our surveyors are trained to safely take samples of suspected asbestos material and bring them back to our in-house laboratories for UKAS accredited asbestos bulk analysis

Asbestos Testing

We offer a range of testing methods to assess the presence of asbestos, each adhering to ISO/IEC 17025 standards. One method, bulk analysis, aligns with HSG248 guidelines and confirms the presence or absence of asbestos in a given sample. We can also offer asbestos air testing, which aims to establish fiber levels prior to activities that could release asbestos into the air, such as demolition work. Additionally, our asbestos testing in soil screens soil samples for asbestos fibers and identifies and quantifies them with precision, down to 0.001%. An additional testing path includes water absorption testing. Our water absorption testing aids in determining whether specific materials must be managed under licensed or unlicensed conditions. This full spectrum of test types ensures a comprehensive asbestos assessment, which is fully adaptable to your individual site needs.

Via these test methods, we can identify and quantify asbestos types in a range of materials, including chrysotile, amosite, crocidolite, tremolite, actinolite, and anthophyllite, covering a range of applications including but not limited to: air, soil, cement, vermiculite, insulation, floor tiles, and ceiling tiles.

Asbestos Sampling

If the presence of asbestos cannot be confirmed with onsite testing, our trained field surveyors can bring samples back to the lab. They carry out bulk sample material analysis for asbestos fibers following HSG248 in line with ISO/IEC 17025 standards. This asbestos sample testing confirms the presence or absence of asbestos in a sample.

Asbestos samples of suspected material can also be sent to or dropped off at one of our UKAS accredited laboratories. We recommend that only trained individuals collect suspected asbestos samples.
