LONDON, UK – November 23, 2017 – Element’s consulting scientists Chris Swyngedouw and Robert Lessard, Health Sciences and Environmental Division, have contributed two chapters to the 2nd edition of the recently published book ‘Environmental Geochemistry: Site Characterization, Data Analysis and Case Histories’. In the book they share their collective knowledge and expertise on soil sampling and soil testing activities that will produce the highest quality data.
In the chapter titled ‘Sampling Methods for Site Characterization’, Dr Swyngedouw, Group Technology Leader – Chemistry, provides an overview of sampling grids applied in soil studies, sampling bias, and sampling errors with some practical advice for sample handing and shipping. In ‘Gas Chromatographic Methods of Chemical Analysis of Organics and Their Quality Control’, Dr Swyngedouw and Mr Lessard, Quality Assurance Manager, introduce gas chromatographic methods of chemical analysis of organic compounds with special emphasis on quality assurance.
John Nelson, EVP, Transportation & Industrials, commented: ‘’The combined expertise of Chris and Robert, who between them have over 60 years of experience working in the fields of organic and physical chemistry, is invaluable to our Health Sciences and Environmental Division in North America.
What makes our service offering unique is the presence of such consulting scientists in each of our environmental laboratories. By working in partnership with our customers, we can save them time and money by guiding them through the testing lifecycle from collection to analysis and reporting.’’
